The weekend Sikhs in California organized, ‘Sikh Century Ride’ a bike ride from Stockton Gurdwara to Yuba City, cycling a “century” of miles to commemorate a century of years since the founding of the first Gurdwara in the USA, the Pacific Coast Khalsa Diwan and Stockton Gurdwara, founded in 1912.
The region was home to the Ghadhr movement, which sought freedom from the British, supported the first Punjabi language newspaper in the U.S., and supported historic leaders Dalip Singh Saund and Bhagat Singh.
