President (India)
Dr. Supreet Kaur, with a Doctorate in Economics and Honours in Psychology, resides in Doraha, Punjab, India. With 18 years of experience in teaching and administration, she comes from a family of educationists and is passionate about environmental conservation.
Since 2016, Dr.Kaur has volunteered as President of EcoSikh India, making efforts to combat climate change on national and international platforms. EcoSikh, founded as part of a UNDP initiative, represents the Sikh community’s commitment to safeguarding nature, guided by Sikh teachings of sustainability and reverence for the environment.
In 2019, EcoSikh launched a campaign to plant 550 trees in 1,820 locations globally in honor of Guru Nanak’s 550th anniversary. The organization has since planted over half a million trees, restoring ecosystems through initiatives like Guru Nanak Sacred Forests across India. Deriving inspiration from the teachings of Sikh, the community has come together to transform the region’s biodiversity through perennial projects like Guru Granth Sahib Bagh and the creation of over 1200 Guru Nanak Sacred Forests. Recently she has become the honourable council member of Interfaith Women Council of UNEP’s Faith for Earth Coalition.
