Gunpreet Singh
President
As a mom and pediatrician, I deeply care about children. I realize the importance of global warming and how it is going to negatively impact the future of our kids. There is a risk of diseases, human displacement, lack of food, and drinking water in the near future.
I am humbled by the teaching and vision of our Gurus who cared so deeply about the environment, preaching that God himself lives in his creation. Pawan Guru Pani Pita, Mata Dharat Mahut.

Rasna Kaur
Executive Director
I Rasna, a banker by profession, understand that Global Warming and Environment protection are burning issues in the world. Be it melting of glaciers, rising of ocean levels/ submerging of shore areas, or rising temperatures which can alter the complete ecology of the globe. Based on the little knowledge of Gurbani I would say that our Gurus identified the problem before it even emerged as a global issue and offered solutions in various verses. I would like to pay my gratitude to our Gurus by following and showing the right path to human beings and leading the life of doing more with less. I am focused and dedicated to protecting the environment by reducing plastic and toxic waste. These are the ones which cause maximum damage to our planet. The idea of EcoSikh has further brought enthusiasm in me to contribute to society through this organization and I would do my best.

Bhavdeep Bajaj
Treasurer
Cleanliness is next to Godliness. We should keep our air, water, and soil-free of pollution. As we are answerable to WaheGuruji (God) for our actions, I, Bhavdeep Bajaj, personally believe that we should leave Earth in a better state than we came in; that is the least we owe our generations to come. I encourage people I meet to make themselves and Earth healthier through actionable changes to have a happy life.

SHUBHENDU SHARMA

Advisor, Sacred Forests

A TED Fellow and an industrial engineer, who was working at Toyota in India when he met Japanese forest expert Akira Miyawaki, who’d arrived to plant a forest at the factory, using a methodology he’d developed to make a forest grow ten times faster than normal. Fascinated, Sharma interned with Miyawaki, and grew his first successful forest on a small plot behind a house.

Today, his company Afforestt promotes a standardized method for seeding dense, fast-growing, native forests in barren lands, using his car-manufacturing acumen to create a system allowing a multilayer forest of 300 trees to grow on an area as small as the parking spaces of six cars — for less than the price of an iPhone. Afforestt has helped grow forests at homes, schools and factories. Sharma seen improvement in air quality, an increase in biodiversity — and the forests even generate fresh fruit. Afforestt is at work on a platform that will offer hardware probes to analyze soil quality, allowing the company to offer step-by-step instructions for anyone who wants to grow a native forest anywhere in the world.

Since the year 2019 Shubhendu has been spearheading the project Guru Nanak Sacred Forests all over the nation and in the diaspora as well. His experience, network, and skill in his work have expanded the Sacred Forests project to Pakistan, and soon it will land in the UK, Canada, and USA.

CHARAN SINGH

Convener, Sacred Forests

Charan Singh is a Mumbai based environmentalist who propagates offsetting our carbon footprint by planting forests using Miyawaki Afforestation Methodology. He started work on the Pal Miyawaki Forest in Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation at Tarapur on 5th November 2016. This works out to an effective Return on Investment of over 3000%. Pal Forests Team has been directly involved in creating 13 forests with over 64,000 trees.
Charan Singh presented on “Brand Circularity for Business Value” at The Confederation of Indian Industry’s Waste to Resource: Adopting the Circular Economy Conference and on “Sustainable Maharashtra” Leveraging Partnerships to Accelerate Growth.
