After the Interfaith march on 2nd July, celebrations continued further in several areas of Amritsar such as Kabir Park, Rani ka Bagh, Gopal Nagar, Ranjit Avenue, etc. and this 7-day celebration concluded on 5th July.
DAY 5
July 2, 2016: Continuing the spirit of celebrations to commemorate the Foundation of City of Amritsar, residents of Kabir Park, Amritsar, organized a “Katha & Kirtan” Smagam at Gurudwara Sant Shankar Singh ji.This event was specially attended by Ravneet Pal Singh, Project Manager (South Asia), Ecosikh. Dr. Sukhdev Singh ji, Professor of Molecular Biology, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar narrated many “SAAKHEES” related to the foundation of Amritsar city in a scientific way. An interactive key note address to the sangat by Ravneet Pal Singh ji was the center of attraction. Keeping focus on the theme of Amritsar Foundation Day 2016 celebration, Mr. Ravneet Pal Singh interacted with Sangat in a suggestive way and placed many practical solutions promoting Tree plantation, water conservation and efficient waste management. Stage Dr. Jatinder Kaur, Head of Department of Environment Sciences, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, also addressed the holy congregation and apprised the Sangat ji of the threats posed to the environment and the solutions to curb the further deterioration of environment and ecology. Stage was conducted by Harminder Singh Tinna, Senior Executive Engineer, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. He is also the organizing secretary of the gurdwara sahib.
DAY 6
July 3, 2016: Team of Voice of Amritsar took an initiative of reviving the green belts by organizing a plantation drive by VOA for the season 2016 in Ranjit Avenue, Amritsar. With their efforts, they together planted trees in the main market of Ranjit Avenue with a target to replace all the dead plants with new ones along with installation of tree guards. Dr. K. Sharma, Founder, Voice of Amritsar, said” It is difficult to imagine life without plants. For the sake of progress, more and more trees are being cut everyday. It is the responsibility of every citizen to plant at least 1 tree and celebrate their birthday. Cheenu Arora, President, Voice of Amritsar along with Advocate Vijayant Khanna, CA Mandeep Singh, Indu Arora, Neeta Mehra and team of EcoAmritsar joined and participated in the event.
DAY 7
July 5, 2016: Keeping up the pace of high spirit, Women wing of Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Rani Ka Bagh, Amritsar, organized a “Gurbani Recitation and Kirtan” smagam on July 5 th , 2016. Samagam was attended by, S. Rajbinder Singh Hundal, President, Gurdwara Management Committee and his team. A special interative key note address was delivered by Gurjit Singh, Project Administrator, Eco-Amritsar followed by an interactive discussion lead by an allopath Dr. Gagandeep Kaur. She represented the women wing of the gurdwara sahib and asked many interesting and serious question. Speaking on the occasion, Gurjit Singh urged the holy congregation to use the “Panni Pitah” in most judicious ways, Help the city resident to breath fresh “Pawan Guru” devoid of deadly pollutants and the restore the naturality and originality of “Mata Dharat Mahat”.
